As of July 1, 2022, Rayman Beitchman LLP, a Toronto-based boutique firm focused on expropriation, planning law and commercial litigation is continuing its practice as Rayman Harris LLP. Founding partners Shane Rayman and Conner Harris look forward to continuing to serve their clients along with their co-counsel Sarah Spitz, Brynn Leger and Leah Cummings.
Shane Rayman is a leading expropriation lawyer in Canada. In addition to appearing before all levels of court in Ontario, Shane acted as senior counsel for the Appellant in the foundational case of Antrim Truck Centre Ltd v. Ontario (Ministry of Transportation) on appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada and was senior counsel for the intervenor, the Canadian Home Builders’ Association before the Supreme Court of Canada in Annapolis v. Halifax Regional Municipality. Shane is a past president and current director of the Ontario Expropriation Association. He is also the Canadian member of the Owners’ Counsel of America. With more than 20 years of experience as an advocate, he continues to focus on achieving outstanding results for his clients and fostering a strong and supportive environment for his team.
Conner Harris is an exceptional advocate and experienced litigator. His practice focuses on civil litigation, including municipal and planning law, complex commercial and real estate disputes, and expropriation and infrastructure matters. He has appeared before all levels of Court in Ontario, as well as a wide range of administrative tribunals such as the Ontario Land Tribunal, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Toronto Local Appeal Body, and the National Energy Board. Prior to his call to the Bar Conner served as a law clerk for the Honourable Madam Justice Heneghan of the Federal Court of Canada, and prior to that had clerked for the Judges of the Manitoba Court of Appeal. In addition to maintaining a dynamic and expanding litigation practice, Conner will serve as the next president of the Ontario Expropriation Association and is the Canadian Associate Member of the Owners’ Counsel of America.
